Wildcat Word
Monday, February 28 - Issue #24
Dear Welborne families,
It is hard to believe that today is the last day of February! As your student may have shared, we had a number of "indoor recess days" last week as a result of the ice that covered the school yard. Conditions will continued to be monitored. It is always the goal to have students outside when the conditions permit. Please continue to send clothing appropriate for the weather. Even if we cannot get out for a full-school recess, classes sometimes go outside for daily physical activity time.
Today was grade 8 teacher, Mr. Kiriakou's last day at Welborne. After a career that spanned almost 25 years, Mr. Kiriakou is retiring. We wish him all the best! The new grade 8 teacher is yet to be hired and we will share information with the families of grade 8 students as soon as it is available. Also departing Welborne is Ms. Mullins. Ms. Mullins has been teaching kindergarten as a long-term occasional teacher but was the successful candidate for a contract position. Congratulations! Mr. Panakkal is the teacher who will be joining "Ms. T" in kindergarten.
Please continue to screen your student(s) prior to them coming to school. We appreciate your communication of student absences using the Safe Arrival app, by contacting your student's teacher or emailing Ms. Hart at welba@limestone.on.ca
If there is anything we can do to help, please reach out to any member of the office team by emailing welba@limestone.on.ca
Warm regards,
Ms. Fraser, Mrs. Clapp, Mr. McFarlane & Ms. Hart

February and Forever: Celebrating Black History Today and Every Day
Mandatory Daily Screener
You are required to complete this screener with your student every morning before they come to school. Students in grade 7 and 8 have a screener emailed to them daily to complete.
You will notice that some symptoms require students to stay home for only 24-48 hours, while some (or some combinations) will require ALL family members to isolate/quarantine for 5 or 10 days. This will mean that all household members will need to stay home from work and school for 5 or 10 days.
If your student develops symptoms during the day, we will be using this screener to determine the course of action to take when we call for you to pick them up.
Full Circle Clothing
Thank you so much to those of you who were able to donate clothing for our bin last week. We will be asking for donations for a specific bin every week. When you donate please make sure the clothing or footwear is clean and in good condition.
In March we will be looking for rainboots, splash pants and Spring coats for students. If there is a specific size someone in your family needs, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school and we will add you to a list.
We would always appreciate Wildcat wear your family has outgrown. Bringing it back to the school will allow school clothing to also come full circle within our community.
What we are currently looking for:
Boys XL shirts or Men's XS or S shirts
Pink Shirt day clothing your family will no longer need next year
Girls 4-6 or small

Register for Kindergarten in Limestone
Students may start school in September if they turn age four (Year 1 Kindergarten) or age five (Year 2 Kindergarten) by December 31 of that year. Those students who are already enrolled in Year 1 Kindergarten do not register again. We welcome new students looking to begin Year 1 or Year 2 to our schools year-round, but we encourage parents and guardians to pre-register children in February for the upcoming school year.
