Before students can make a splash, we need to make sure all the paperwork is complete. This is also the final week that hot lunches will be delivered for the year. Hot lunch ordering will return in the fall, once everyone has had a well‑earned summer reset. Hand sanitizer does not work against cryptosporidium. Whether your child is away due to illness, a family commitment, or participating in a school activity such as a sports tournament, it’s important that their absence is recorded. For students attending school-sponsored events, coaches or supervising teachers will update attendance records so these absences do not count against them. However, we still ask families to report these absences through School Messenger to help us maintain accurate records and confirm each student’s whereabouts. Please ensure you use the same email address your student’s school has on file. For any school day in the school term up to the cut-off time on the day of the absence. Future absences can be reported at any time using any one of these methods. Please do not call the school directly to report your student's absence.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr" style="text-align: start;">Reporting late arrivals</h2>Parents/caregivers are instructed to report late arrivals using the new Late Arrival option, including the expected arrival time to school. When a student arrives, they are expected to sign in at office and staff make the amendment in our student information system. When a student leaves early, again they are expected to sign out (with parental permission) and again the amendment is made in our system. This method allows us to best track student attendance to ensure safety. The SafeArrival system makes it easier for you to report your student’s absence, reduces the time it takes for our school staff to verify student attendance, and responds to unexpected or unplanned student absences. This time savings makes it faster and more efficient to account for all students and their safety.<hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">Grade 7 and Grade 8 Lunch Privileges</h2>Historically, the students in grades 7 and 8 have the opportunity to get parent permission to leave the school property during recess/eating break on designated days. For students attending school-sponsored events, coaches or supervising teachers will update attendance records so these absences do not count against them. However, we still ask families to report these absences through School Messenger to help us maintain accurate records and confirm each student’s whereabouts. When a student arrives, they are expected to sign in at office and staff make the amendment in our student information system. When a student leaves early, again they are expected to sign out (with parental permission) and again the amendment is made in our system. This method allows us to best track student attendance to ensure safety. The SafeArrival system makes it easier for you to report your student’s absence, reduces the time it takes for our school staff to verify student attendance, and responds to unexpected or unplanned student absences. This time savings makes it faster and more efficient to account for all students and their safety.<hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">Grade 7 and Grade 8 Lunch Privileges</h2>Historically, the students in grades 7 and 8 have the opportunity to get parent permission to leave the school property during recess/eating break on designated days. About Our School

Welcome to Welborne Public School, a Kindergarten to Grade 8 school is located in the west end of Kingston. Our school serves the communities of Auden Park, Waterloo Village and Westpark. Welborne has a strong reputation for excellence in academics and sports. A highly involved School Council works with the staff to create a caring community that supports student achievement. Our school hosts a before and after school program by Frontenac County Child Care. As well, several community groups regularly use our facilities in the evenings.

Dear Families,As we move towards the last week of the 2025-2026 school year, I want to share a few important updates and reminders as we wrap up the year and begin looking ahead to September.2026-2027 School Year Budget At last night’s Regular Board Meeting, the Board of Trustees approved the Limestone District School Board’s 2026-2027 budget, prepared in accordance with Public Sector Accounting Board standards. The motion directs the Chair to write to the Ministry of Education, the Minister of Education, the Premier, local MPPs, OPBSA, CODE, and union partners, requesting additional funding to support the hiring of more frontline staff and will highlight that Limestone annually spends approximately $10 million beyond provincial funding to support special education.Reminder: P.A. Day – Friday, June 26, 2026 A reminder to families that Friday, June 26 is a P.A. Day and there are no classes for students.Tri-Board Transportation: School Bus Information for the 2026-2027 School Year School bus information for the 2026-2027 school year will be available to families in July through the <a href="https://triboard.ca/student-portal/" class="editor-link">Tri-Board Student Portal</a>. New students, as well as those with a change of address or school, must apply online by August 5 to ensure transportation is in place for the first day of school.
