A reminder that there is no school for students on Friday, it is a PA Day.A big congratulations to the cast and crew of Matilda! These hardworking, talented students preformed 4 shows in three days. They were very proud to preform for Welborne students, students from Sinclair and Henderson Public Schools and for a very special evening performance. We are so proud of the students involved who shone brightly from start to finish!Thank you to all the families who attended the recent presentation that were organized by School Council! The presenters, from Make Way for Me, have gratiously shared their slides with us. Please ensure that you are reading the communications from your student's teacher(s) so that you are aware of what is happening and signing permission forms in a timely way. Many field trips cost money and families/caregivers are asked to make a payment to cover the cost. We want every student to participate in the learning opportunities that take place outside of the classroom. Please don't let payment be a barrier to you giving permission for your student to attend the trip. If circumstances are such that full or partial payment is not possible, please log in to School Day and "sign" the permission form and then contact your students' teacher about payment. Your child can participate without payment, but they cannot participate without permission. The SAC BBQ is coming next week, on June 5th! Preparations are underway, and each class has been given a fun raffle basket theme to bring to life. Families are invited to contribute an item—big or small—to help make this year’s raffle our best one yet. The themes for each class are listed below. And of course, an event like this shines brightest when our community comes together. The BBQ Committee has handled all the planning and permits; now we’re looking for day‑of volunteers to help. Shifts are just 30 minutes, and no experience is needed—just bring your energy and community spirit. If you’ll be attending with your family, please consider signing up for a shift or two and be part of the magic that makes this event unforgettable. This method allows us to best track student attendance to ensure safety. For students attending school-sponsored events, coaches or supervising teachers will update attendance records so these absences do not count against them. However, we still ask families to report these absences through School Messenger to help us maintain accurate records and confirm each student’s whereabouts. When a student arrives, they are expected to sign in at office and staff make the amendment in our student information system. When a student leaves early, again they are expected to sign out (with parental permission) and again the amendment is made in our system. This method allows us to best track student attendance to ensure safety. The SafeArrival system makes it easier for you to report your student’s absence, reduces the time it takes for our school staff to verify student attendance, and responds to unexpected or unplanned student absences. This time savings makes it faster and more efficient to account for all students and their safety.<hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">Grade 7 and Grade 8 Lunch Privileges</h2>Historically, the students in grades 7 and 8 have the opportunity to get parent permission to leave the school property during recess/eating break on designated days. This month, students will take part in our remaining Fire and Lockdown safety drills, with staff guiding them through each step in a calm, age‑appropriate way. We’re also looking forward to welcoming families to our Parent Engagement Evening with Make Way For Me—a wonderful opportunity to learn, connect, and grow together. And of course, the spotlight is shining brightly on our student performers as Matilda the Musical Jr. takes the stage May 20–22, with a special evening performance on May 21 at 7:00 p.m. It’s shaping up to be a vibrant and memorable month for our whole school community.Excitement is building for our SAC BBQ on June 5th! Preparations are officially underway, and each class has been given a fun raffle basket theme to bring to life. Families are invited to contribute an item—big or small—to help fill their class basket and make this year’s raffle our best one yet. It’s a simple way to add a little extra sparkle to a favourite Welborne tradition.A reminder to all families that Monday, May 18 is a holiday and the school will be closed. Whether your child is away due to illness, a family commitment, or participating in a school activity such as a sports tournament, it’s important that their absence is recorded. For students attending school-sponsored events, coaches or supervising teachers will update attendance records so these absences do not count against them. However, we still ask families to report these absences through School Messenger to help us maintain accurate records and confirm each student’s whereabouts. Please do not call the school directly to report your student's absence.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr" style="text-align: start;">Reporting late arrivals</h2>Parents/caregivers are instructed to report late arrivals using the new Late Arrival option, including the expected arrival time to school. When a student arrives, they are expected to sign in at office and staff make the amendment in our student information system. When a student leaves early, again they are expected to sign out (with parental permission) and again the amendment is made in our system. This method allows us to best track student attendance to ensure safety. The SafeArrival system makes it easier for you to report your student’s absence, reduces the time it takes for our school staff to verify student attendance, and responds to unexpected or unplanned student absences. This time savings makes it faster and more efficient to account for all students and their safety.<hr><h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">Grade 7 and Grade 8 Lunch Privileges</h2>Historically, the students in grades 7 and 8 have the opportunity to get parent permission to leave the school property during recess/eating break on designated days. About Our School

Welcome to Welborne Public School, a Kindergarten to Grade 8 school is located in the west end of Kingston. Our school serves the communities of Auden Park, Waterloo Village and Westpark. Welborne has a strong reputation for excellence in academics and sports. A highly involved School Council works with the staff to create a caring community that supports student achievement. Our school hosts a before and after school program by Frontenac County Child Care. As well, several community groups regularly use our facilities in the evenings.

<h2 class="editor-heading-h2">Technical Advisory Group (TAG) is Seeking Expression of Interest</h2>The Limestone District School Board is seeking expressions of interest from <a href="about:blank" class="editor-link">individuals</a><a href="#_msocom_1" class="editor-link">[EL1]</a>  interested in joining the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) in support of the ongoing Student Census 2025 project.The purpose of the Technical Advisory Group is to provide advice, perspectives, and recommendations related to the design of data collection methods, analysis, and the representation of results for LDSB’s Student Census. TAG plays a critical role in ensuring that multiple and diverse perspectives are applied to the interpretation of data, helping to minimize bias and strengthen the relevance and integrity of findings.We are seeking expressions of interest for the committee for the September 2026 to August 2028 term.  We welcome expressions of interest from all members of the Limestone community, including those who can help us fill the following vacancies:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">One to two parents of a Limestone student(s) who is not an employee of the LDSB</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">A Limestone school administrator</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">One or more Limestone secondary students</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">One community partner member who works alongside LDSB</li></ul>Experience in data collection, analysis, and/or reporting of identity‑based data is encouraged; however, individuals with a broad range of research or analysis backgrounds and/or lived experiences are encouraged to apply.
